Los días 22 y 23 de febrero se celebra en el Salón de Grados de la Escuela el International Workshop on Citizen-centered health platform for cross-border regions (SALUS 2024), que será un punto de encuentro de investigadores y empresas del ámbito de la Ingeniería Informática y de la Salud, al que están invitados todos los miembros de la Comunidad Universitaria en general y de la Escuela en particular.

SALUS 2024 tiene como objetivo proporcionar un foro en torno a la salud centrada en la ciudadanía, donde investigadores, estudiantes y otros actores colaboran para identificar problemas, oportunidades y soluciones relacionadas con la salud en regiones transfronterizas dentro de Europa. Las regiones transfronterizas se definen como áreas donde se producen intercambios sociales y económicos a través de las fronteras nacionales. Sin embargo, la creación de una solución adaptada regionalmente y centrada en el ciudadano requiere no solo experiencia técnica, sino también consenso político para establecer un marco, fomentar la cooperación y obtener apoyo.
Un ejemplo de este esfuerzo colaborativo es la región multinacional que abarca España, Portugal, el Reino Unido, y Marruecos. Este taller internacional ha dado lugar a numerosas iniciativas cooperativas, generando estrategias ejecutables.
Los desafíos inherentes a este esfuerzo se pueden categorizar de la siguiente manera:
(i) Sociales: Mejorar la prestación de atención y salud centrada en la ciudadanía.
(ii) Técnicos: Establecer una plataforma digital para facilitar la interconexión entre ciudadanía, proveedores de servicios y partes interesadas municipales.
(iii) Económicos: Desarrollar modelos de negocios sostenibles a largo plazo y cadenas de valor.
(iv) Políticos: Definir y abogar por la cooperación mientras se respaldan soluciones viables.

The International workshop SALUS 2024 aims to provide a citizen-centered health forum, where researchers, students, and other stakeholders collaborate to identify problems, opportunities, and solutions related to health in cross-border regions within Europe. Cross-border regions are defined as areas where social and economic exchanges occur across national borders. However, crafting a regionally tailored and citizen-centered solution requires not only technical expertise but also political consensus to establish a framework, foster cooperation, and garner support.
One example of this collaborative effort is the multi-country region encompassing Andalusia: Portugal, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Morocco. This international workshop has spawned numerous cooperative ventures, yielding actionable strategies.
The challenges inherent in this endeavor can be categorized as follows:
(i) Social: Enhancing citizen-centered health and care provision.
(ii) Technical: Establishing a digital platform to facilitate networking among citizens, service providers, and municipal stakeholders.
(iii) Economic: Developing sustainable long-term business models and value chains.
(iv) Political: Defining and advocating for cooperation while supporting viable solutions.
